Wireless data transmission using just LED light bulbs

Light Fidelity or Li-Fi is a Visible Light Communications (VLC) system running wireless communications travelling at very high speeds.Li-Fi is a bidirectional, high-speed and fully networked wireless communication technology similar to Wi-Fi is a form of UV visible-light communication or infrared and near-ultraviolet instead of radio-frequency spectrum, part of optical wireless communications technology, which carries much more information and has been proposed as a solution to the RF-bandwidth limitations. Both Wi-Fi and Li-Fi transmit data over the electromagnetic spectrum, but whereas Wi-Fi utilizes radio waves, Li-Fi uses visible light.

This Optical wirless Communications technology uses light from light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as a medium to deliver networked, mobile, high-speed communication in a similar manner to Wi-Fi.
Li-Fi is transmission of data through illumination, sending data through a LED light bulb that varies in intensity faster than human eye can follow.

The visible light spectrum is 10,000 times larger than the entire radio frequency spectrum.Researchers have reached data rates of over 224 Gbit/s .It promises huge speed advantages, as well as more-secure communications and reduced device interference.

Lifi has following advantages over Wifi

Transmits data using LED lights
Higher data speed
No interference issues
Secured as light cannot pass through walls
Larger Spectrum
